Worktops

Over the many years that Stuart and I have been in the industry we have seen a lot of different worktop styles and products come and go.

Still there are a massive choice of materials available.

Granite:-

Probably the most asked after surface with only price being the reason for going down another avenue.

Granite is beautiful and natural, its colour variances is part of its appeal, as no one piece is exactly the same as another.

A wonderfully hard product, with a permanently cold feel, ideal for making pastry! Over the years the price of natural stone has come down as more and more people want natural finishes.

Wood:-

We use wood a lot in our Eco homes, due to its sustainable nature and traditional history.

A very solid surface to work on with textural finish that make it very tactile.

Not good for the cleaver wielding carnivores, but an extremely usable surface, with strategically placed trivets and cutting boards can and will last a life time.

Laminate:-

The most reasonably priced worktop material, very good hygiene credentials, will take a fair amount of abuse.

Has limitations on shaping, however can be cleverly shaped using square edging and numerous edge materials including Aluminium, Stainless steel, Plastic etc.

Composite stone:-

As wide a range of choice as Granite, the majority being resin based.

Very hard wearing, a good accompaniment to Granite or Wood. Corian, Arena Stone, Silestone, Zodiaq, Caesarstone to name but a few.
